Hospital Day 6

Toe had a rough night last night. The medicines are making him wired during the day (he can't nap, even when he is exhausted) and so he is beat when he finally fall asleep. And we didn't give him Tylenol for his legs last night before bed. When the nurse's assistant came in to take his vitals, Toby started crying and screaming. He wasn't even awake. His eyes were open but he has no memory of it this morning. It took a while to get him calmed down and then suddenly he was asleep again. We, on the other hand, were full of adrenaline. When we talked to the doctor today, he said that he would request no vitals in the night. Huzzah.

Tomorrow Toe has PFTs that will tell whether his lung function has improved and whether his antibiotic treatment will be 10 or 14 days. They also did a blood draw to determine his iron levels. They just want to make sure low iron is not affecting his leg aches.

Today we tried to walk a bunch to get his body stretched and ready to really sleep tonight. We went on a Christmas tree hunt. The beauty of being at the hospital is that you don't just get one Christmas tree. They're EVERYWHERE, especially at a hospital complex this size. We found 36 Christmas trees of various size (many were in the gift shop) and have covered even part of the hospital. Pretty cool. We also had some great visits today.

I'm pretty pleased - the first three days were all about the Xbox, but Toe has settled into doing crafts, reading, talking, and watching a few movies. Many people have sent things for Toe to do and he is enjoying the diversity and the activities. So are we.

There's one in there!

 Some notes:
  • J is grateful that we have to wear visitor badges each day. He says it's the only way he knows what day it is.
  • When J had to run after a doctor to ask a question, Toe said, "Run after her Dad! Run after her like you love her!"
